According to court documents filed in Oklahoma County, on June 7, 2020 a man committed suicide in an Edmond shopping center parking lot.

A little before noon, Edmond 911 received a call from Aaron Michael Malawey, 34, stating he was parked in his vehicle at 28 E. 33rd in front of the Tuesday Morning retail store, with a gun to his head.

Further negotiations with officers on scene revealed that earlier in the day, the mother of a young teenage girl had confronted him and accused him of molesting her.

The mother said her daughter gave her a note, detailing allegations that Malawey had touched her sexually.

Malawey then got into his vehicle and drove to his current location.

During police negotiations, Malawey began texting with relatives and going live on Facebook.

After negotiating for over an hour, Malawey shot himself in the head. He was pronounced dead at 12:49pm at OU/Presbyterian Hospital.

On June 15, 2020 Malawey’s alleged teen victim was forensically interviewed at the Care Center. During the interview the young girl repeated her allegations against Malawey.

Police noted that when they interviewed Malawey’s wife, she disclosed that “Malawey has had past complaints made at by other females at his workplace.”

Edmond Police seized Malawey’s mobile phone and submitted it for forensic investigation.
