Prostitute found murdered in Chicago River North boutique hotel

10/12/2011 – Chicago, IL — A Wisconsin woman with a history of prostitution was found murdered in an upmarket River North boutique hotel yesterday morning.

Sarai Michaels, 31, was found deceased lying next to a bloody knife after a 911 call was placed from her room. Police are reviewing security camera footage and interviewing witnesses and persons of interest. The murder occurred at the Felix Hotel at 111 W. Huron.

Michaels is described by her estranged husband as a former model and mother of five whose life started falling apart after a series of unfortunate events in the last couple of years.

Police believe Michaels traveled to Chicago with two Minnesota women for the purpose of engaging in prostitution. Police towed a car with Minnesota plates from the hotel parking lot not long after Michaels’ body was discovered.

It is being reported that security footage shows an unknown man following Michaels into an elevator and then forcing his way into her room.

Michaels has prostitution arrests dating back to 2004 in St. Louis. Her five children were taken into state custody following a DUI stop in September on last year.
