11/12/09 – Dallas, TX — Some people collect stamps, others collect baseball cards – but the Dallas PD is on the hunt for Hooker DNA. No, they’re not scraping crusty bedsheets at the local no-tell motel, they are actually hoping the hookers will volunteer their bodily fluids for free.
Why? The Dallas police hope to use the DNA database to identify suspected prostitutes that are either deceased or otherwise unavailable to identify themselves.
The DNA collecting isn’t scheduled to begin until next year and is a part of the Dallas PD Prostitution Diversion Initiative. Dubbed the High Risk Potential Victim’s DNA Database, police say the DNA will be collected on a voluntary basis. Collection will focus on truck stop prostitutes since they have been identified as high risk for assault or murder.
